In this article, you will learn how to create a user and assign them to the alerts they need to follow.

SUMMARY

Create an user

To access the Portal, a user must first have been invited to create an account. Only the following people can create an account:

  • a user in your company with user management rights
  • an internal XMCO employee (CERT consultant, auditor, etc.)

Prerequisite: Permission to create a user

To create a user, you must have the Create a user permission.

You can check your rights as follows:

  • Click on your initials and click on Account settings (also available in the Header)
  • Click on the Permissions tab and check that the Create users right is visible in the General section.

Create a new user independent of any scope

Step 1 :Go to the users list

  • Go to the Configuration menu
  • Click on the Users button

Step 2 : Create the new user

  • Select the + button to add a new user
  • Fill in the details of the new user

Create a user directly assigned to an existing scope

If you want to create a user and you already know which scope you want to assign them to, and the scope has already been created, you can follow these steps:

Step 1 : Go to the list of existing scope users

  • Go to the Configuration menu
  • Choose the MyAccount submenu
  • Choose the scope to which you want to attach the user, then click on the Users button

Step 2 : Create the new user

  • Select the + button to add a new user
  • Fill in the details of the new user

Fill in the information for the new user

Step 1 : Fill in the general information

  • In the pop-up window, you need to fill in the following information:
    • First name
    • Last name
    • Mobile phone (optional for SMS alerts, in E.164 format)
    • Language (you can choose between French and English)
    • Email address
    • Mail format (possible choice between HTML or plain text)

If you want to create several accounts for the same email address, you can use the character in the address.

For example, if your email address is username@mail.com, you can use the address username+test@mail.com, which will redirect all email notifications to username@mail.com.

Step 2 : Select the user profile

There are four types of 'general' profile with different levels of privileges:

  • Manager: manages account creation, scope management and action tickets;

  • Module manager: similar to a manager, manages a module (Yuno, Serenety, Pentests);

  • Regular user: cannot create accounts or scopes, but can manage action tickets and can be assigned rights to scopes;

  • External service provider: can only view action tickets (Serenety alerts, Yuno tickets, pentests recommendations, etc.).

It is possible to customize profiles tailored to your company! Have a look at the article Understanding profiles and rights on the Portal.

Step 3 : Select module(s)

The choice of modules gives the user access to the perimeters of these modules (Serenety, Yuno, etc.).
You can choose between all the modules where the company has a subscription (i.e. a contractual commitment).

Remember to fill in this field correctly; it is mandatory if you want your user to have access to a perimeter!

Step 4 : Select access permission of scope

The privilege of modifying a scope depends on the right given to the user:

  • Read only: the user can simply consult the information in the scope, and in particular the associated action tickets, the associated assets, the associated technologies, etc..
  • Read and write: the user can manage the perimeter, either by modifying or deleting it.

Step 5 : Register the user

Once you have filled in all the necessary information, check that the Send by email option is ticked (this will send an e-mail to your user for the first time, so that they can register their password). You can then click on the Add button to create the user.

You can find the user :

  • In the global list of users;

  • In your company's list of users;

  • In the selection of users associated with your perimeters.

Assigning a user to an existing scope

Once the user has been created, you can assign him to a scope (if this has not been done before).

Step 1 : Go to the list of existing scope users

  • Go to the Configuration menu
  • Choose the MyAccount submenu
  • Choose the scope to which you want to attach the user, then click on the Users button

Step 2 : Assign the user to the perimeter

  • Click on the Assign an user button
  • Follow the step-by-step pop-up
